NCAN-FAFSA Challenge

UNH Manchester and the Manchester School District submitted a grant application to the National College Access Network for its 2017 NCAN-FAFSA Challenge. We are one of the 22 cities to be awarded a grant. The challenge for all cities is to increase the number of completed FAFSA submissions by June 30, 2017.

Changes to FAFSA for the applying for aid in 2016-17:

  • FAFSA application available on October 1, 2016 instead of January 1, 2017
  • FAFSA will  accept tax data most families have already filed earlier in the year with the IRS, which can be used to pre-populate many FAFSA questions and reduce the difficulty of completing the application.

The rationale for the challenge is that when students complete the FAFSA, they are more likely to go on to postsecondary and complete their postsecondary education.
